Export Wix vs Weebly to HTML

Weebly used to be the simple alternative to Wix. Square bought them in 2018 and that's... not really true anymore.

These days Weebly is focused on commerce. Square wants you selling through their payment system. The website builder hasn't seen major updates in years. New features? All commerce-related.

Wix kept building. More templates, more widgets, more everything. Their editor is powerful but cluttered. You can do almost anything, if you can figure out how.

For a simple brochure site, Weebly is still easier. Fewer options means fewer decisions. Drag blocks around, add text, done. The templates are dated but functional.

Wix gives you more control but demands more time. Their App Market has integrations for everything. Need a booking system? Chat widget? Email signup? It's there. Whether you need all that is another question.

Pricing is similar. Weebly runs $10 to $26 per month. Wix runs $17 to $159. Both charge extra for e-commerce features. Both show ads on free plans.

Here's what matters: both platforms lock you in.

Build a site on Weebly, you're stuck on Weebly. Build on Wix, you're stuck on Wix. No export button. No download option. Stop paying and your site vanishes.

That's the real issue. Not which builder has better templates or more features. The isue is ownership. You built it but you don't own it.

Square could shut down Weebly tomorrow. They've deprecated Weebly features before, killed the Weebly Promote email tool in 2022. Your site runs on their servers under their control.

Wix is bigger but same deal. Their terms of service explicitly say you can't export. Your content, their platform, their rules.
