Export Wix to Shopify to HTML

Wix Stores and Shopify are completely different systems. There's no migration wizard, no "import from Wix" button. Moving your store means rebuilding it, but you can make the process less painful.

Products are the biggest task. Wix lets you export products as CSV, but the format doesn't match what Shopify expects. You'll spend time reformatting columns, fixing image URLs, and cleaning up data. For 50 products, budget a full day. For 500, budget a week.

Third-party apps like Cart2Cart or LitExtension claim to automate this. They work, mostly. Expect to pay $30-200 depending on your store size, and plan to review evey product after import. Automated migrations miss details.

Your store design won't transfer at all. Wix templates and Shopify themes are fundamentally different. But here's a trick: export your Wix store to HTML before you start. You'll have a visual reference of exactly how things looked, colors, layout, product arrangement. Open it in one browser tab while you set up Shopify in another.

The HTML export also grabs all your product images in one folder. No more downloading them individually from Wix's media library. Drag them into Shopify when you're recreating listings.

Order history is tricky. Shopify can import historical orders, but the process is manual and limited. Most stores just start fresh on Shopify and keep Wix records archived. Your accountant will want a copy anyway.

Domain transfer is straightforward. Update your DNS to point to Shopify. If you bought your domain through Wix, you can transfer it to another registrar or just change the nameservers.

Plan for 1-2 weeks of overlap. Keep your Wix store live while you build out Shopify. Test everything, checkout, shipping calculations, tax settings, before switching DNS. One failed order during migration will cost you more than the extra week of Wix fees.

Shopify costs more than Wix for e-commerce, $29-299/month versus Wix's $27-59. But you get better inventory managment, more payment options, and an app ecosystem that actually works. For serious e-commerce, it's worth the price bump.
