Export Transfer Wix Site to HTML

Wix site transfers come in two flavors: moving to another Wix account, or moving off Wix entirely. The first is simple. The second requires work.

Account-to-account transfers within Wix take about 30 seconds. Site Settings, Transfer Site, enter the recipient's email. They accept, done. The site moves to their dashboard. But here's the catch, your premium plan stays with you. The new owner needs their own Wix subscription to keep premium features.

This is how agencies hand off sites to clients. Build on your account, transfer when done, client adds their own payment method. Works smoothly.

Transfering to a different host is another story entirely. Wix doesn't want you to leave, so they don't give you an export option. Your site exists only on Wix's servers, built with Wix's proprietary code.

The solution is third-party export. Tools like ours render your Wix pages in a browser and save the HTML output. You get static files, HTML, CSS, images, that work on any web server. It's not a perfect clone; Wix Forms stop working, Wix Stores won't function. But your design and content come through intact.

After export, hosting options open up. Netlify has a generous free tier. GitHub Pages costs nothing. Traditional shared hosting runs $3-10/month. Compare that to Wix's $17-159/month and the math is obvous.

Your domain situation depends on where you registered it. If your domain is through Wix, you can transfer it to another registrar (Namecheap, Cloudflare, Google) or just update the DNS settings to point to your new host. Wix can't keep your domain hostage.

If you connected an external domain to Wix, even easier. Just update the DNS records at your registrar. No transfer needed.

One more option worth mentioning: if you're unhappy with Wix pricing but like the platform, check if your site qualifies for their free tier. Limited features, shows Wix ads, but free. Some sites don't need more than that.
