Export Transfer Weebly Site to HTML

Weebly site transfer can mean different things. Moving to another Weebly account? Migrating to a completley different platform? Each path has its own process.

Let's cover all the scenarios.

Transferring to Another Weebly Account

This is the straightforward one. Open your Weebly dashboard, find the site you want to transfer. Go to Settings, look for Site Transfer or Change Owner. Enter the email address of the person receiving the site.

They'll get an email to accept. Once they do, the site moves to their Weebly dashboard. Gone from yours.

Important details: premium subscriptions don't transfer. Your plan stays with your account. The new owner sees a free-tier version of the site unless they buy their own premium. Domains registered through Weebly also don't automatically follow, that's a separate transfer.

Moving Your Domain Away From Weebly

If your domain is registered through Weebly, you can transfer it to another registrar. Go to your Weebly settings, find the Domains section. Unlock your domain and request an authorization code (EPP code).

Take that code to your new registrar, Namecheap, Cloudflare, wherever. Start a transfer. Pay for a year of registration. Wait about a week for it to complete.

Alternatively, keep the domain at Weebly but point it elsewhere. Update DNS records to point to your new host. The domain stays at Weebly, but your site lives somewhere else.

Transferring to a Different Platform Entirely

This is the bigger project. Weebly doesn't give you files you can upload to another host. You need to either rebuild on the new platform or export your site first.

Export approach: Use a tool that renders your Weebly pages and saves them as static HTML. Our exporter does this, you get a ZIP file with every page, every image. Upload to any host and your site works.

From static HTML, you can either keep it as a static site (free hosting on Netlify or GitHub Pages) or use it as reference while rebuilding on WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, whatever.

Rebuild approach: Sign up for your new platform, open your Weebly site in another tab, manually recreate each page. Copy text, download and re-upload images, set up navigation. Takes longer but you end up with a native site on the new platform.

Which approach to pick depends on your goals. Want maximum control and free hosting? Static export. Want to use another platform's features? Rebuild there, using your export as reference.

Whatever you do, don't cancel Weebly until your new site is live and working. Overlap is fine. Test thoroughly before cutting over.
