Export Squarespace to Wix to HTML

Squarespace to Wix is the road less traveled. Most people go the other direction. But Wix's freeform editor offers something Squarespace doesn't, total layout freedom.

Squarespace locks you into sections. Everything snaps to a grid. Clean and consistent, yes. But if you want an element 47 pixels to the left? Tough luck. Wix lets you drag anything anywhere. More rope, but also more freedom.

Migration means rebuilding. Neither platform reads the other's format. Export your Squarespace site to HTML first, you'll have pages, images, and content organized for reference.

Rebuild your blog. This is the tedious part. Wix Blog doesn't import Squarespace XML. Each post needs manual recreation. For 50 posts, budget a couple days just for this.

E-commerce note: both platforms handle online stores. Squarespace is generally cleaner for commerce. Wix Stores has more features but a clunkier interface. If you're running a store, test both checkout flows before commiting.

The meta question: should you be on either platform? Both charge similar monthly fees. If you're rebuilding anyway, consider exporting to static HTML and hosting free. Works for most sites that aren't blogs or stores.

But if you want Wix's design flexibility specifically, the migration is straightforward. A week of work, maybe two for larger sites. The result is a site you can shape however you want.
