Export Is Weebly Free to HTML

Weebly is free. With asterisks.

The free plan exists and it actually works. You can build a website, publish it, have people visit. No credit card required. No trial period. Actually free.

But here's what "free" looks like:

Your URL is yoursite.weebly.com. Not yourbusiness.com, a subdomain on Weebly's domain. Looks unprofessional. Tells visitors you're either broke or don't take your site seriously.

Weebly displays ads on your site. Not your ads generating revenue, their ads cluttering your pages. You're the product, not the customer.

Limited features. No site search. No password-protected pages. No advanced SEO tools. No e-commerce (that requires the Business plan at $26/month).

500MB storage. Sounds like alot until you upload a few dozen high-res images. Then you're stuck.

For a hobby project or personal blog where you don't care about appearances? Free Weebly works fine.

For anything professional? You'll upgrade.

Paid plans break down like this:

Personal: $10/month (billed annually). Connects your own domain. That's the main upgrade. Still shows Weebly branding.

Professional: $12/month. Removes Weebly branding. Adds site search and password protection. The most popular tier for small businesses.

Performance: $26/month. E-commerce features. Shipping labels, tax calculator, inventory management. Only necessary if you're selling products.

All prices assume annual billing. Month-to-month costs about 30% more.

Here's the math people don't do: $12/month is $144/year. For five years? $720. For a website that's basically a digital business card you update twice a year.

Compare that to the alternative: export your site as static HTML, host it free on Netlify or GitHub Pages, pay $10-15/year for a domain at Cloudflare. That's $15/year versus $144/year. Same website, 90% cheaper.

Obviously the free or cheap approach has trade-offs. No drag-and-drop editor for changes, you'd edit HTML or rebuild. No form handling without third-party services. But if your site is basicaly static content, those trade-offs might be worth the savings.

So is Weebly free? Technically yes. Practically? Expect to pay at least $10-12/month for anything you'd want to put your name on.
