Export Framer vs Wix to HTML

These tools aren't really competing. Different audiences, different philosophies. But people compare them anyway, so here's what you need to know.

Framer is a design tool. Built by designers, for designers. The interface assumes you know what you're doing, or at least aren't afraid of a blank canvas. No hand-holding. Beautiful results if you have the skills.

Wix is an everything tool. Built for anyone who wants a website. Hundreds of templates, app marketplace, built-in everything. Booking systems, stores, restaurants, portfolios, Wix has a template. The interface holds your hand.

Design quality goes to Framer. Sites built in Framer just look better. Cleaner code, smoother animations, more intentional layouts. The tool attracts designers and it shows in the output.

Wix sites have a look. You've seen it. The template vibe. The slightly-off spacing. The bloated code. Recognizable but not necessarily in a good way. Functional, not polished.

Features go to Wix. Need a booking system? Built in. Email marketing? Built in. Online store? Built in. Member areas? Built in. Wix has spent years adding everything imaginable.

Pricing works out interestingly. Framer Mini is $5/month for a basic site. Wix Light is $17/month. Framer looks cheaper.

But Framer Basic is $15/month and Wix Business Basic is $27/month. At higher tiers, the gap narrows. And Wix includes features that would need third-party subscriptions on Framer.

Speed and performance? Framer wins. Wix pages carry significant overhead, tracking scripts, framework code, bloat. Framer output is cleaner and loads faster.

Here's the shared problem: both lock you in.

Wix is notorious for this. No export. Your site exists on Wix or doesn't exist. They're explicit about it.

Framer is the same, just quieter. No export feature. Your site lives on framer.site or your custom domain, either way, on their servers.
