About Cancel Wix Account Export
Deleting your Wix account is different from canceling your subscription. And people confuse these all the time.
Cancel your subscription? Your premium features stop but your account stays. You keep access to the free plan, your sites still exist (with limitations), and you can upgrade again later.
Delete your account? Everything goes. Every site you've ever built on Wix. Every image you've uploaded. Every page you've designed. Gone. Permanently.
This isn't just one site, it's all of them. If you have three Wix sites under one account, deleting that account nukes all three. No exceptions.
Before you do this, export your sites.
Wix doesn't have a built-in export. They really don't want you leaving with your stuff. But our tool can grab your pages, images, and styles as static HTML files. Do this first. Seriously.
Now, the deletion process:
Log into Wix. Click your profile picture in the top right corner. Select "Account Settings" from the dropdown. Scroll down to find "Close Account", it's at the bottom, kind of hidden.
Wix will ask why you're leaving. They'll offer alternatives. Discounts maybe. Ignore all that if you're sure. Confirm you want to close the account.
You'll need to re-enter your password. Then confirm again. They really make you work for it.
A few things to keep in mind:
Your domain doesn't automatically transfer. If you bought a domain through Wix, it's tied to your account. You need to transfer it to another registrar before deleting your account, or you'll lose access to it.
Any active subscriptions should be canceled first. Deleting your account doesn't automatically stop charges, cancel your premium plans explicitly before closing the account.
And if you're deleting becuase of billing issues, contact Wix support first. Sometimes they can help. Once you delete, there's no going back.
The smart move: export everything, transfer your domain, cancel subscriptions, then delete. In that order.
Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between canceling a subscription and deleting my account?
Canceling a subscription stops your premium plan but keeps your account and sites. Deleting your account wipes everything, every site you've built, all your content, your login credentials. It's permanent.
Can I recover my Wix account after deleting it?
No. Once you confirm deletion, it's gone. Wix doesn't keep backups of deleted accounts. Your sites, images, content, all of it disappears. There's no undo button.
How long does Wix keep my data after I delete my account?
They don't. Account deletion is immediate. Some backend data might linger briefly for technical reasons, but your sites go offline instantly and content becomes unrecoverable.
