Export Cancel GoDaddy Website to HTML

Ready to leave GoDaddy? Good decision. But don't just hit cancel, you'll lose everything.

Here's the thing GoDaddy doesn't make obvious: your website only exists on their servers. Cancel your subscription and the site vanishes. No backup. No archive. Gone.

So before you cancel anything, export your site.

GoDaddy doesn't provide an export feature. Shocker, right? They want you staying. But third-party tools can download your published site as static HTML files. Enter your URL, wait a few minutes, get a ZIP file with everything.

That ZIP contains your entire site. HTML pages, CSS styles, images, fonts. A complete copy that works independantly. Upload it to any hosting service and your site comes back online, without GoDaddy.

Once you have your export, here's how to actually cancel:

Log into your GoDaddy account. Go to My Products. Find your Website Builder subscription. Click the three dots menu and select Cancel. They'll try to keep you, discounts, warnings, whatever. Push through it. Confirm cancellation.

Your domain is seperate. Canceling the website builder doesn't touch your domain registration. Keep paying for the domain or transfer it elsewhere. Point it to your new hosting once your exported site is live.

Timing matters. Cancel right before your renewal date to get the most time you paid for. But don't wait until the last second, give yourself time to verify your export works first.

Where to host instead? Netlify, Vercel, and GitHub Pages all have free tiers. Basic shared hosting runs $3-5 per month. Compare that to GoDaddy's $10-25 monthly.
